What Causes Watery Discharge While Passing Stools?
Might need some investigations with a physical examination.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef, a general surgeon answering your query.
If I were your doctor, I would advise you for a routine stool test for ova and cyst, and treat it if positive, which might relieve you of your symptoms. However, if the symptoms persist, I would refer you to a gastro enterologist for a possible endoscopic evaluation of your lower GI tract to rule out any inflammatory bowel disorder. In addition, the hemorrhoid and fistula in ano might itself secrete some fluid like material frequently. Therefore, I would also suggest you to get it clinically assessed by a general surgeon in your area for a possible surgical cure.
In addition you should go for sitz bath (sitting on a XXXXXXX warm water filled tub) three to four time a day for five minutes each. The main cause of a piles being constipation, please avoid high protein diet, add a lot of roughage and fresh fruits along with sufficient liquids. Go for a regular exercise programme. Further management would depend on the result of physical examination and reports of the related investigations.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
Emperical antibiotics might not work unless diagnosed with certainity.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX ! Good morning. Regrets for the delay in responding.
If your stool test comes positive for amebiasis (a common problem in India), usually metronidazole is prescribed in the dose of 400 mg three times a day. For hemorrhoids and fistula in ano, antibiotics would not be effective excepting for a temporary relief in fistula. In addition, in case of inflammatory bowel disease, treatment would be different only after the problem is confirmed with investigations. Therefore, I would advise you to consult your family physician/surgeon before starting any kind of emperical antibiotics for your problem.
Hope I have answered your query. In case of any further doubt, you are free to ask. Good luck. Dr Shareef.
