What Causes Weakness And Pain Under Shoulder Blade?

Question: My husband's right side (arm, shoulder, etc.) is suddenly WEAK after what felt like a pinched nerve (quite painful) in his right back of shoulder/neck area. This hasn't changed in about 3 weeks. When he bench presses, I see that the right side rhomboid doesn't lift at all...like the left side does. What could this be? He is in good health, runs daily, however, he does have 3 stents for a genetic (or more?) heart condition.
Brief Answer:
Probably herniated disc disease of the neck.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
It is probably herniated disc disease of the cervical spine, with compression on nerve(s) that supply the right side of the shoulders and arm.
This condition needs an evaluation by a Neurologist and imaging studies such MRI of the cervical spine.
Treatment consists initially on conservative measures such NSAID drugs, physical therapy with the aim of strengthening neck muscles and reducing the joint loading.
