What Causes Weight Gain And Vomiting After Having Thyroxine Sodium?
Question: Hi, my name is XXXX and my age is 25. I am suffering from irregular periods from last 3 years. For this I was taking many medicines (homeopathy & allopathy) but not getting proper result. I got married in November, 2012. Currently I got a new doctor who advised me to do a ultrasonography test (TVS) and it is found that I have PCOD. Also I have thyroid which is almost 7.4.
For the above reason doctor prescribed me to take Dronis 30 and also suggest to take Thyroxine Sodium (25 mcg) to solve thyroid issue. I am taking this medicine from last 4 month and found no problem in periods for last 4 month. But I am facing some problem like vomiting, headache, weight gaining etc.
Please suggest what should I do to solve all this problem.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that it can be the effect of the disease that you are suffering from which is leading to weight gain plus the side effects of medicine .
Rest of your treatment is fine but I think you should be given Metformin also which leads to decreased insulin resistance and will help in your PCOS .You can discuss this option with your gynecologist.

Dronis contains ethinylestradiol which can cause all these side effects that you are mentioning because it is estrogen .
Yes this is the standard treatment and should be taken . You can take the medicine at night time, it will help in relieving some of the side effects . Plus you can take pantocid and domperidone combination to relieve vomiting and nausea.
Yes metformin can be taken along with these medicines but after due discussion with your treating doctor .
