What Causes Welts On Leg?
Question: I have two welts on my leg they started off like a little lump had them for a number of years I assumed they were skin tags last year while shaving my legs the top came off and they bled have since been just red patches I received an insect bite the other day and while scratching they started to bleed again. I went to my doctor and asked her about them and she told me to keep them covered with a plaster. that the red around them meant they were trying to heal but they have already had over a year to heal

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
Thank you for providing the requested photo.
Although the quality was not as good as to see the welts in depth and the correlation with hair, I can say as following :
- their presence for such long time is due to habitual scratching over them
Try not to scratch, if you cannot resist, I advise to apply cold compresses
- you are saying that you shave the hair. This practice is commonly associated with skin infection and infected hair root. If I was your caring doctor would advise to change method and switch to waxing for example.
If after these changes, you will not see any improvement, then I advise to :
- measure your blood sugar levels
- run further examinations of local welts (scrapping or swab culture ).
All the best!
