Question: Please help. I've been a long time user of methamphetamine iv everyday for the past 3 or more years and tomorrow I plan to give it up and get clean cold turkey because my addiction is not only taking its toll on my health bit it's destroying my life and my family. How do I get thru the withdrawals without having to sleep all day and find time to recover... I am a very busy mum with 3 small children in and no support as I've kept this battle a secret between me and my supplier this whole time so my family doesn't know about my addiction or chronic use of methamphetamine. Is there a light at the end of this tunnel? willni ever be clean and ssober and free from drug abuse

Brief Answer:
Cold turkey is not advisable

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing through HCM.

I have read your query and understood your concerns.

Chronic use of methamphetamine makes a person dependent on it and also causes changes in brain, that is why person's behaviour and thinking is also affected.

When a person suddenly stops it after long term use he faces withdrawal symptoms like excessive lethargy, sleepiness, depression, irritability, anxiety, fatigue and intense craving for the drug. If you stop it suddenly you may have some of these symptoms but the withdrawal is very severe.

So, I suggest you not to go for cold turkey and visit a psychiatrist and undergo gradual withdrawal or detoxification and rehabilitation. Cold turkey will ruin your responsibility towards your children and make you miserable.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have further query then I shall be happy to help.
Wish you good health.
