What Causes Whistling Sound While Breathing?

Question: Hi Doctor, my 20 day old baby boy is making whistle while breahing and also sneazing as well. Though mucus is not coming from his nose, is it possible that he is having cold and there is something that we should be worried of?.

Detailed Answer: Greetings. as I understood from your query. the whistling sound is mostly because of nasal obstruction. sometimes the mucus is not very visible but still nasal obstruction might be present. in that case nasivion s drops will help. Try counting breath rate of your child. is it more than 60 or nearby. in that case you should take to the doctor for physical examination. if you child is behaving normally. not crying excessively or lethargic, fever and is not having hurried breathing then more likely he is okay but Incase it persisits or having any above mentioned symptoms then better to consult medical help for proper physical examination. hope this helps. regard.
