What Causes White Boil Marks On Shoulder And Neck Of An Infant?
Question: My daughter who is only 6 days old having white boiled marks on her shoulder and neck. Is T-Bact safe for her?
Brief Answer:
Probably it is bacterial infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Any infection in the newborn period should be viewed seriously.
This may be due to bacterial infection commonly due to Staph.
Oral antibiotic like Ampiclox 2 times daily will help.
Better consult pediatrician for proper diagnosis and correct dose of the drug.
It is not possible to correctly diagnose without seeing the baby.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose

Doctor,
Thank you for the information. Well, I would like to know whether this Staph bacterial infection is harmful for my baby who is just 7 days old.
I contacted a child specialist who prescribed T-Bact ointment for my baby to apply on the affected areas thrice daily.
will it heal the infection??

Brief Answer:
T-Bact is a broad spectrum antibiotic.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for asking follow up question on health care magic.
T-Bact ointment (Mupirocin) is a broad spectrum antibiotic.
Ampiclox is specific for Staph. infection.
Your child specialist is right, usually it heals and safe.
But as the baby is 7 days old I prefer a specific antibiotic in addition to your ointment.
This is an extra precaution as the infections become very severe in the newborn period.

Hello Doctor,
Thank you for your advice. I have another follow-up question.
My wife is suffering from fever (100 degree temperature due to nagging pain in her stomach) from today. I think she is suffering from fever due to pain in the incision line in her stomach. She had delivered a baby girl who is just 8 days old.
My question is that if she continue breastfeeding (obviously she has to do) even now, is there any possibility that our daughter will also suffer from fever?
I think Doctor you understand my question and problem.
Thanking you,
XXXXXXX
