Question: Hi doctor my 3 months old baby has white spots on his forehead eyelids below eyes cheeks and shoulder. In shoulder and fore head it is round in shape.worried very much please help me out.
Brief Answer:
Post-inflammatory hypoigmentation; topical moderately potent steroid
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the Image.
I can see faintly white/ hypopigmented patches on face of the baby. I suggest a possibility of post-inflammatory hypopigmentation secondary to seborrheic dermatitis.
This does'nt seem like Vitiligo. I think that would have been your main worry.
If I was the treating doctor I would suggest you to apply a moderately potent topical steroid cream e.g fluticasone propionate 0.05% cream (Flutivate cream) twice daily for 2-3 weeks. Avoid applying very close to eye.
Regards

Preventive measures to avoid in future...what is cause for seborrheic dermatitis,.
Brief Answer:
Seborrheic is self limiting
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Seborrheic dermatitis is endogenous, which is due to a combination of factors like excess oily gland secretion, fungal overgrowth and inflammation.
Seborrheic dermatitis is self limiting condition. Infants usually outgrow this condition as they grow older. Therefore there are no specific preventive measures.
