What Could Cause Spotting/light Bleeding While 8 Weeks Pregnant?
Question: im 8 weeks pregnant with some spotting/light bleeding. the blood is sometimes reddish brown to brown colour. the blood comes out when i pee and when i defacate but there are no clots. a thin sanitary pad won't be soaked for a day. my ob prescribed me to take duphaston until i reach 3months because she said it looks like I'm having a miscarriage. after weeks of duphaston, my spotting still come and go, is that normal? do you think there is still a chance of miscarriage even if I'm supported with duphaston? i have no hx of miscarriage and had my first baby with no complications in 2012. i had ultrasound yesterday and the ob said that the fetus looks fine since the heartbeat is heard at 160-170 beats / min. pls help me I'm worried i don't want to lose my baby.
Brief Answer:
Dont worry

Hello
Welcome to healthcare magic.
The spotting is due to threatened miscarriage.
Since you had a healthy delivery earlier the chances of miscarriage are very less.
You continue the medicines especially duphaston for another week since placental takeover happens by 9 weeks and the medicines are no longer needed.
Isoxilan can be stopped now as it wont help you.
The miscarriage chances are very very low and you will not loose baby. Don't worry about it. Take adequate rest and do lift heavy weights. Consult your doctor regarding my recommendations.

What could be the reason of my continous spotting? I thought duphaston would stop the bleeding?
Brief Answer:
Fetal growth
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Duphaston is a progesterone medicine which helps in supporting growth of the baby.
Hence this wont stop bleeding altogether.
The bleeding is because baby is trying grow in womb against resistance and factors not allowing it to grow.
But precise reason is not possible to know as of now.
