What Do Increased Heart Rate And A Crushing Feeling In The Chest Indicate?
Question: About 30 mins ago I experienced a rapid increase of heart rate along with a crushing feeling to my chest. Nothing in particular precipitated the sudden feelings as noted. I laid down for 10 minutes, not much help. Over this past half hour feelings have improved but not totally.
Brief Answer:
Please go to ER.
Detailed Answer:
Hello -
Even if the chest pressure is subsiding, I think you need to go directly to the ER. Woman can have atypical symptoms for heart attacks, and a crushing or pressure feeling can be a sign of a heart attack or symptoms that the heart is not getting enough blood/oxygen.
Some arrhythmias (where the heart beats in an abnormal rhythm) can cause these symptoms. If the heart is beating too fast, it can prevent normal conduction of the flow of blood.
So go now to the ER. If you have an aspirin, take it before you leave, but don't delay going if you don't have an aspirin.
I welcome you to let me know how you are doing after you go in.
