What Do My MRI Scan Test Results Indicate?
Question: i had an mri done it read that L4L5 had right laminectomy. the large central disc herniation has been removed in 2011 there is however recurrent left paracentral disc herniation. This severley narrows the left lateral recess. there is mild spinal stenosis, neural foramen are adequate. L3L4 patient has undergone right laminectomy, there is disc space narrowing with broad based posterior disc bulge

Laminectomy refers to the bone removed to decompress neural structures and facilitate disc excision.
Laminectomy contributes partially in spinal column instability.
However, there's still a part of disc that herniated at left L4-L5 level that probably is causing symptoms ( if any ).
There is need for a correlation between these MRI imaging findings and patient's symptoms.
If no severe symptoms, physical therapy (lumbar traction exercises) could help.
If severe and debilitating symptoms, spinal cord decompression (broader laminectomy) and spinal fusion probably are needed.
