Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
Noted your concern.
You need modification in your prescription.
You are on small dose of two oral anti-diabetic medicines (metformin & sitagliptin content of Janumet) and intermediate acting insulin (insulatard).
There is definite scope to increase dose of Metformin & Sitagliptin but it will depend upon
- Your heart status.
- Kidney function.
In such case I may suggest to do -
- HbA1c.
- Complete Blood count.
- Lipid Profile.
- Renal function test.
- Liver function test.
- Urine examination.
- ECG & 2DEcho of heart.
Considering normal heart & kidney function I may increase Tablet Janumet twice a day Before breakfast & dinner.
And Tab containing Metformin 500mg after dinner once a day.
Hope this helps you.
Regards,
Dr. Abhay Mali.
Diabetologist.
