Question: Pus cells10-12/hpf, epithelial cells 10-12

Urine culture and sensitive report said bacteria is sensitive to akamicin and nitrofurantoin.

I used nitrofurantoin for 2 weeks. Pus cells down to 2-4 hpf but epithelial cells remain same.
I used amijet 500 for a week but still epithelial cells remain same.
What should I do now?

Brief Answer:
Epithelial cells in urine not to be worried for ..

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have Stricture of the Bulbar Urethra and seems to have undergone VIU (Optical Urothrotomy) thrice but has repeated episodes of UTI .

The UTI in patient with stricture urethra is always secondary to incomplete emptying of bladder and significant post void residual urine remaining in bladder .

You have rightly been prescribed Amikacin and Nitrofurantoin as per urine culture report The presence of epitheilial celss in urine signfies shadding of epithelial cells in bladder mucosa which is natural response of defence mechanism of body and ihas no significance at all and not to be worried about .

Since you have aleready undergone surgeries thrice you neeed to get the issue fixed by an open surgery of Urothroplasty .

2).Dilatation is out dated procedure and leads to stricture to become more dense and tight .It will be corrected by Urethroplasty
