Question: Request to HealthcareMagic team - request you to forward the query ONLY to Dr.Nirja Chawla or Dr XXXXXXX XXXXXXX or Dr. Mia Lundi please. I would like to have opinion from either of them and not from any other doctor

Dear Doc, am attaching my wife' fetal scan and doppler report - one taken on 16.Mar.2016 and one taken on 17.Feb.2016. She has completed 36 weeks as on 16.Mar.2016. The gynecologist she consults has advised that we can do a c-section after completion of 37 weeks. They have also informed that nutrition may not be reaching the baby.Request you to review the reports and give your opinion on fetal development and when should delivery be scheduled.

Dear Doctor,

I have attached Early Pregnancy Scan (2 different centres), 1st Trimester Scan and 2nd Trimester Scan reports.

The gynecologist my wife is consulting has suggested we do the c-section after completion of 37 weeks. She would confirm date when we meet her next wednesday (23.Mar) as to when to keep delivery.

Look forward to having your inputs on the fetal development and also if we can keep delivery next week or can delay it by a couple of more weeks i.e. till 39 weeks.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Your dates are accurate

Detailed Answer:
I reviewed your reports. After proper evaluation it appears that the abdomen is growing at less than fifth centile. Since Doppler is normal, it's good to complete 37 weeks, take steroids and deliver.

Route of delivery can be decided by examining the patient.

Best wishes

Dear Doctor,

Thank you for your note.

Can you let us know why nutrition may not be reaching the baby.

The Gynec my wife is consulting told us that in an automatic mechanism baby is diverting the little nutrition it receives to vital organs like the brain. They told that the baby would catch up on growth after its born. But they told they are not sure why nutrition is not reaching the baby though there seems to be no issue with the umbilical cord.

Please advise if the scans confirm (a) fetal impairment, (b) disproportionate physical growth - i.e. a large head not in proportion to the body etc. We would like to know so that we are emotionally and financially ready.

Thank you for your time Doctor.

Brief Answer:
Yes the description is correct

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
After delivery there is good catch up growth of baby and the outcome is generally good. Yes there is no answer to why? but in all probability baby will be fine and stay with mother. Unlikely to have long nursery stay. your gynecologist is guiding you right.

Best wishes,
