What Does Pyogenic Granuloma To Umbilical Cord In An Infant Mean?

i have a 6 month old baby with a pyogenic granuloma to umbilical cord, can you explain what this is and how did it happen. i have been told that the baby needs surgery when he is a year old as it may be something inside naval that may be pushing this tissue out...is this uncommon and would surgery be my only solution..

pyogenic granuloma is a tumor like lesion that grows in response to local trauma or irritation.The only cure is surgical excision.It completely cures the condition but in few cases it recurs.
