What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?
Question: My son is 39 years old & has had stills disease since he was 19. He was born with VSD, had open heart at 8 mos with pig skin patch. He has been showing major iron in his bloodwork. he was sent to cancer center of Ill for tests. They have diagnosed him with genetic ? Iron overload. They are taking a lot of blood, sending him for an MRI & a ultrasound. Can this be caused by his stills or Rh? I'm scared of his liver & heart! Anything you can help me with for knowledge?
Brief Answer:
A sequel of Still's disease
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. The iron excess could indeed be due to iron overload which can follow the increased red blood cell destruction caused due to splenomegaly (enlarged spleen) which is a characteristic of Still's disease. The cause of Still's disease is genetic.
