What Do My Ultrasound Scan Test Results Indicate?
Then I had another scan at 28 weeks, head measurements were around 75th percentile. Femur length was still about 50th percentile.
At 34 weeks the head was back up to around 90th and femur length was about 27th. Now at 36 weeks femur length is around 10th.
I have read a lot online and some studies seem to say this can be a sign of achondroplasia. Other websites say it might just be normal variation and scan measurements can be out anyway.
The scans were nothing to do with growth, I was bring checked for other reasons, so I didn't have a detailed conversation with the sonographer about the measurements although he did not seem worried.
Should I be concerned?
Nothing worrisome, please provide full ultrasounds reports...
Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,
I understand your concern.
First, try to relax.
Second, you can send the ultrasound reports to me to analyze them myself.
Next, we do not take measurements at your age, due to difficulty we get as the baby is growing.
Furthermore, ultrasound reports are figures that carry their own limitations, and they are not 100% accurate. However, we can judge over the normal development of the baby. The age of baby shown in the ultrasound could not be the same as your real age, which should be taken into account.
In your case, from what you are reporting, I do not see anything abnormal, try to relax and take another opinion from your OBGYN consultant who is taking care of your pregnancy.
If you did the testing for chromosomal abnormalities and if they were OK, then should not get worried unnecessarily
All the best! God bless to both of you!
