What Do No Periods Indicate Despite Taking Maxogest?
Question: Hi doc
I am scheduled for donor egg IVF in the next month. I am 29 with diminished ovarian reserve. Doctor prescribed maxogest 10 mg for 10 days to induce periods. However it's almost 10 days since my last dose and I haven't got a bleed yet. I am not worried about ovulation since I have given up on my ovaries. But why didn't I get my periods even after maxogest?? Home pregnancy test negative. Is there any other way to induce a period? Only then can I go for mock embryo transfer. I can't visit my clinic till Friday. Please help. I am just tired of all this.

Brief Answer:
Some time progesterone alone won't be sufficient
Detailed Answer:
Hi
GREETINGS
I understand your situation.
Since you are having ovarian failure your endometrium may not be primed enough with oestrogen and that could be the reason for no bleeding after medroxy progesterone.
Your infertility specialist will know the details of your hormonal status and scan.
Hence a different combination may be required or higher dose of medroxy progesterone if endometrium is adequate.
Hence I suggest you to report to your doctor at the earliest regarding your withdrawal bleeding.
Hope my answer helps you.
Regards
