What Do Redness And Swelling Along With Burning Pain On The Toe Indicate?

I have unexplained redness swelling to my left great toe along with sharp, constant, burning pain that I can hardly walk let alone put any pressure on it. I did get labs drawn . The Uric acid 8.8! I am assuming I have gout? What treatment would you recommend? The symtoms started a week XXXX
diet changes and high fluid intake will be helpful , allpurinol sachets , probenecid . your physician will give you proper dosing and will suggest steroid tabs like prednisone with or without NSAIDs according to your lab investigations .

Hi i am Dr Ahmed Aly
thanks for using HealthcareMagic site ,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns ..
In my opinion you have a kind of gouty arthritis due to increased serum uric acid levels . do not worry it is very common and in mild cases might subside without medications .
You may begin with some diet changes with low salt and protein meals , allow high fluid intake , avoid alcohol , stop smoking , reduce weight .
Medications used may vary according to the severity of the condition but the main treatments may include colchicine tabs to reduce pain , NSAIDs to reduce inflammation and pain , prednisone , topical gels for local gentle massaging , allopurinol sachets to reduce your body uric acid production , probenecid is used to eliminate uric acid .
If your pain or swelling persist i recommend visiting a rheamatologist for proper evaluation and management to prevent further complications .
