Brief Answer:
"Molluscum contagiosum": cauterization to treat it

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome again to the forum and thanks for sending the details so swiftly.

After thoroughly analyzing the pictures and correlating with the information provided I can get that you have the condition called "Molluscum contagiosum".

To tell you about this condition: It is a type of viral infection caused by molluscum contagiosum virus. It appears as a simple whitish bead and when fully formed mimics a pearl like whitish bump with central indentation in it. You can see in the picture that one is fully formed and rest are just developing.

It is totally asymptomatic condition and never cause any discomfort except for itching some times rarely. It is commonly seen after an unprotected or protected sexual intercourse or sometime without this thing also due to skin to skin contact at the base of penis and nearby sites. So just check for the similar lesions in your partner. Friction is to be avoided as it causes further spread of the lesions.

I suggest you to stop running till the time this get treated completely as it causes friction.

Let me reassure you that this one of the simplest condition and can be treated very easily. It requires simple cauterization by machine or chemical. You can meet a dermatologist and get it treated completely.

I hope these informations will help you. I will be glad to guide you any further.

Hi doctor,

Thanks for your inputs again.

Would cauterization leave permanent marks ? Is there any topical medication that would help?

Brief Answer:
Radio cautery never leaves any marks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome again to the forum.

In general cautery with radio cauterization is quite simple and never cause any problems. Even if some persons are uncomfortable then I go for needling and extraction. It is simple procedure but requires meticulously done procedure by a needle and extractor instrument.

None of these procedures leave any marks and are quite simple procedures.

You can enquire for any of these from your treating dermatologist.

There is no cream which can help in this case directly. There are certain creams which burns these lesions but I have seen that these can even burn the normal skin so is always better to avoid these.

My all best wishes for your good health.

I hope these informations will help you. I will be glad to answer any further queries or if not then can close the discussion and rate the answer.

With regards,

Dr Sanjay Kanodia
