What Do Small White Bumps On The Nose Indicate?
Question: I went in to book my first microdermabrasion and the skin therapist noticed multiple small white bumps on my nose. I assumed it was stubborn white heads as I've tried to remove it myself, hence why I wanted a facial. The skin therapist called in another lady for a second opinion and both presumed it to be milia. They asked me if I had any heart related conditions because milia on the nose is connected to heart issues. They told me to get a blood test and check my cholesterol levels as well. Previously I've had some luck getting these stubborn white bumps off however it is very difficult. I've noticed they come out as a ball however I can squash it between my finger nails. Could you possibly let me know if this is related to heart problems?

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
Regarding your concern, I would explain that milia are very common, benign, keratin-filled cysts. These bumps occur when dead skin becomes trapped in small pockets at the surface of the skin.
Primary milia are commonly seen in infants, because their skins is very sensitive, but they can occur also in adults. Secondary milia develop after trauma to the skin, such as after sunburns, dermabrasion, or in blistering disorders.
But, they are not related to any cardiac disorders.

Would you say this is milia or something else?
Brief Answer:
My opinion as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello again!
These white bumps on the nose are probably milia. They are the most common type of bumps in this region (on the nose or under the eyes). It is true that they are very difficult to remove with hands. But, they can be removed with a needle or with different medical techniques.
While white stubborn are also called acne or pimples, which means that they are a more different skin disorder. They are more typical on the forehead or cheeks and occur frequently during adolescence. They are treated differently from the milia.
Anyway, the dermatologist will help you to get rid of them. These skin disorders can be identified easily with a careful skin inspection by a specialist of the field.
Hope to have clarified some of your uncertainties.
Wishing good health,
Dr. Iliri
