What Do The Following Blood Test Reports Indicate?

I have been drinking regularly since many years. I left for last week and took heptral 400 as suggested by my doctor. Today I got my blood tests done and in liver function test Sgot is 46 and sgpt is 146. Also serum cholestrol 206 , hdl 62 , triglycerides 147, vldl 29, ldl cholesterol 114.
Further also got done ultrasound of the abdomen, report says ' liver shows homogenous echotexture with normally defined portobiliary radicles. No discrete SOL is present '. Should I continue taking heptral400
What dose, and should I add some other medicines to lower the sgpt and cholestrol levels.
Also suggest right dietery plan to lower done these elevated levels, and lastly can I consume alcohal on weekends.Thanks. YW
Stop alcohol till SGOT/SGPT normalize
Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist. Regular drink with increase in SGOT and SGPT with ultrasound showing fatty liver suggest that you have developed alcohol related liver disease in form of fatty liver and hepatitis. Most important and successful treatment is to quit alcohol at all. Heptral reduced the damage to liver so you may continue it. Other medicine which I found very useful in my patients is capsule evion 400mg once in day (Vitamin E). To lower cholesterol levels take tab atorvastatin. Among dietary advise:
1. Stop alcohol
2.Take less fat in your diet
3. Take lots of fruits and vegetables
4. Do regular exercise
You should stop drinking at least till SGOT and SGPT normalize.
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Wish you a good health. If you have further query I will like to answer that too.

Please suggest can I take heptral 400 twice a day, what time should I take Evion 400 and atorvastatin, also suggest if these are to be taken before or after meals .
For how many days and I can get my tests done again.
Also I forgot to inform My GGT is 80.
Further can I include milk thistle tablets along with above medicines .
If I take food cooked with olive oil will that be helpful, or this oil is not to be taken in heated form.
I await your reply to start the medication.
Thanks again
Discuss and got prescription from your doctor also
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
Evion should be taken in morning 2-3 hours before or after meals, atorvastatin to be taken at time of sleep.
Get your tests again after one month
GGT get elevated in whom who drinks alcohol, so nothing to worry about it. It will be normalized once you stop drinking
You may include milk thistle also as it also is useful in liver disease
Olive oil may decrease cholesterol levels and reduces risk of heart disease so it is useful as such also.
However get prescriptions of these medicines by your doctor and discuss with him also
If you don’t have further query then rate the answer and close the discussion

As ultrasound report says "liver shows homogenous echotexture with normally defined portobiliary radicles. No discrete SOL is present '. Does this mean I have fatty liver and hepatitis?
As doctor who dud this test told me its all normal.
I await your reply and will close this and also rate this conversation .
