Question: Hi Doctor,

I have got preventive health checkup done for my wife. Please find her reports attached. Request you to please have a look on the reports and suggest if any precautions or medications are needed for anything.

Few queries related to her health are follows:

1. She is having frequent headache (approx once or twice a week). Sometimes this is accompanied by a little swelling behind left ear which causes pain when touched.

2. Also, please suggest if her reports are all well for her to conceive.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Thyroxin supplementation should be started

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Health care magic.

I have gone through the attached reports. My impressions are:
* Potassium levels are low. Ask her to take plenty of juicy fruits like citrus fruits as they contain much potassium.
* She has subclinical hypothyroidism. For pregnancy TSH should be less than 2.5.
* HDL levels are good (the higher the better). So not worried about lipid profile. Fatty foods should be limited.
* Protein, urine, sugar and blood counts fine.
* For pregnancy, apart from TSH levels there are no problems in these reports. However, other confirmatory tests are required.

Brief Answer:
Take Naproxen as required

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I am really sorry for not being able to respond any fast.

I am sorry for having missed out a part of the problem. As regards the headache, I would insist her to take Naprosyn (naproxen) 500 mg one or two tablets together as required. Its preferable to take it in full stomach.

The swelling behind the left ear is more likely to be an enlarged lymph node which could occur in case there is any infection in the area that drains to it. It is hard to comment definitively without clinical examination but I guess it is not something to worry about. If still apprehensive, you will need to visit a doctor and get it evaluated.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards

Hi Doctor,
Thanks for your reply.
Would like to confirm if Naproxen needs to be taken when she is having headache or for some fixed time period?

Any other precautions or suggestions to help improve this?

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Only to be taken as required

Detailed Answer:
Naproxen needs to be taken only if she is getting a headache and not at a fixed time.

There are no specific precautionary measures except for avoidance of triggers that you can identify.
