Question: I had a TSH test yesterday. What do the numbers mean?

Hello and thank you for using HCM,

TSH is a hormone produced by another gland, not thyroid, but who directly controls the production of the thyroid hormones.

--If TSH is below normal values that means that the thyroid is producing more hormones than it should (hyperthyroidism), which is stopping the production of the TSH hormone.
-- If TSH is high, so above normal values, that means the thyroid is producing less hormones than it should (hypothyroidism), which have made the TSH to get over stimulated so it will force thyroid gland to produce more hormones.

Thew normal values should be in the lab report, next to the values of the result.
