X-RAYS OF THE PELVIS AND RIGHT HIP
There appears to be heterotopic calcification with features suggestive of a previous femoral head and neck
fracture which has healed.
No overt joint space narrowing of the right hip.
There is however sub-articular sclerosis, predominantly of the acetabular surface.
No overt osteophytosis or subchondral cyst formation.
Metallic density noted within the pelvis in keeping with an intrauterine contraceptive device.
Bilateral iliac bones are intact.
Bilateral sacro-iliac joints and the pubic symphysis are intact.

Brief Answer:
Right hip needs a replacement.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen the attached reports. The right hip shows degenerative changes with decreased joint space. The sub articular sclerosis is also considerable. This needs a hip replacement to control the pain. Without the surgery the pain can become unbearable and there can be restriction of movement. Hip replacement is a safe procedure. It is better to opt for the surgery than to lead a painful miserable life. Your condition will improve after the surgery. No need to be disheartened.
I hope this answers your query.

Does this nean a total hip replacement or resurfacing?

I have read other peoples queries and doctors respinces around osteoarthritis. A few or none refer to surgery, your responce is primarily around surgery, is it because i talked about surgery first or is there other options? Pleae understand ne doc

Brief Answer:
Resurfacing can be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
At your age a resurfacing will be a good option. Total hip replacement can be avoided for now if your surgeon agrees for resurfacing. I advised you regarding surgery since your X-rays show an advanced arthritis and the joint space is grossly reduced. Conservative treatments are only for short term relief. I intended to advise you regarding a long term treatment.
Hope my answer is helpful.
