Question: the hcg urine test showed positive ( line T was mild) later took beta HCG blood test on same day result was 41.2 again took on next day it was 52 but when I took today it was 49 , seems it has reduced... What should I do now, any chance of miss carriage???
Brief Answer:
Failed pregnancy likely
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Beta hCG levels should be repeated in 48 hours from the same lab.
Normally the level doubles every 48 hours.
If the levels are falling, it is suggestive of failed pregnancy or impending miscarriage.

taking susten tablet or hcg injection will be supportive??? what is the cause of decrease in HCG levels??
Brief Answer:
Not recommended
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, hCG decreases in failed pregnancy.
Susten and hCG injection is not recommended in patients with decreasing hCG levels, as giving them will prolong the time of abortion.
I will suggest you to repeat the beta hCG levels after48 hours to confirm and get appropriate treatment.

Brief Answer:
Please tell LMP
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
As I told you earlier, beta hCG injections delay the process of natural abortion in a failed pregnancy. The non rising trend of beta hCG is confirmatory of a failed pregnancy.
Can you please convey the date of last menstrual period so that I can advise you further.

it's on 29/10/15 the transvaginal study didn't show anything also they asked me to come after two weeks
Brief Answer:
Repeat the ultrasound for confirmation
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
As calculated by the LMP, the gestational age today is 5 weeks4 days.
At this gestation, if the pregnancy is there, then the gestational sac is visible in the uterus.
However, to be sure, I will suggest you get a ultrasound after 2 weeks.
In the meantime, do not take hCG injections or progesterone hormones, as this will prolong the process of abortion, if it is a failed pregnancy, the chances of which are higher.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Brief Answer:
Chemical or failed pregnancy
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have reviewed the reports.
There is no evidence of a healthy pregnancy. It is a failed pregnancy or chemical pregnancy, in which the beta hCG is slightly increased, but there is no evidence of pregnancy in ultrasound.

Brief Answer:
Do not be disheartened
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, don't be disheartened.
First trimester abortions are usually due to chromosomal anomalies in the fetus and it is usually the nature's way to abort these abnormal fetuses.
1. It is not due to any problem in the sperm or ovaries.
2.Certain investigations should be done to determine the cause of abortion:
- Thyroid profile
- Blood sugar fasting and post prandial levels
-Antiphospholipid antibody profile
However, these investigations are done usually after two or more recurrent miscarriages. After one miscarriage, they are not advised.
Sheshould take folic acid tablet daily from at least2 months prior to planning conception and during first trimester of pregnancy. It reduces the risk of spontaneous abortion and risk of congenital anomalies in the fetus.
3. Next conception should be planned only6 weeks after this miscarriage.
4. You should ask regarding the above points with your doctor.
Be positive and hopeful.
