Question: Today I have received Medical Diagnosis report for my 55 years old mother and the main issues in the report are as below:
Glucose, Fasting - 299 mg/dl and Glucose,PP - 494 mg/dl
HDL Cholestrol 42 mg/dl , LDL Cholestrol 132 mg/dl, VLDL 21 mg/dl. Chol HD ratio - 4.64, Albumin - 3.3 g/dl, RBC- 5.61, MCV-77, MCH-25, Red Cell Distribution width- 15.0 %
Heart ECG report:
Old anteroseptal wall myocardial infraction
T-wave changes inferior and anterolateral leads
Chest X-ray report:
Prominent bronchovascular markings

Note: My mother is already taking "Amaryl 3mg" for blood Sugar and "Ecosprin -Av 75" for heart including a pressure dosage as she has high pressure since long.
Also last month due to attending some cultural function she did not control her diet and she were sure she will have some blood sugar, otherwise last time it was last recorded as Glucose, Fasting-173 and Glucose,PP-225.

now I need to know what is the exact problem of heart ? Will it be possible that by Medicine intake can this be cured as by born she always feel anxious and after reading these report without knowing any of the medical terms she is fearing a lot and she always afraid of "Heart Attack" as my father died last year due to Heart Attack.

Please suggest as we are planning to consult cardiologist with intimidate effect.

Brief Answer:
Yes she has heart issues, needs echo and probably angiography

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Firstly, she has deranged blood sugars. She should have proper dietary restrictions and regular exercises. Her medicine needs to be hiked up. She needs to be started additional medicine like metformin or sitagliptin etc.which you could get prescribed from local doctor or endocrinologist.
Diabetics frequently don't have symptoms of cardiac disease, and Ecg is showing changes which are probably old so it's likely that she is having coronary artery disease. So needs to be evaluated on early basis. She ll need echo cardiography and angiography. Needs to visit cardiologist.
Next is her cholesterol is not yet controlled. Her both ecosprin and atorvastatin should be increased to 150/20 mg from 75/10, which might need to increased further after evaluation is completed.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

Thanks for the response.

I have additional 3 queries:
1. From the ECG report I confused. Do you think she had already a Heart Attack ?
2. The Heart issue and diabetes treatments both hopefully will go hand in hand. I did urine test as well and no issue found there. So please suggest which Specialist I should refer --Cardiologist or Diabetologist ? Sometimes in my locality I get Doctor with degree mentioned Diploma in Cardiologist and MD- Medicine. Please suggest the best to search the doctor,I need help here to reach the proper doctor.
3. Please let me know by going through the details if Patient changed the lifestyle with restricted diet then chances of recovery will be there ? In addition any generic public query as we all avoid surgery/stenting do you think her case can be cured by medicines and timely check-up. From family side we are fearing this.

Sorry but all these queries will help me and same time convince me for curing her from current condition.

Thanks in Advance..

Brief Answer:
Appears to have minor heart attack, echo will tell better

Detailed Answer:
Yes, probability of minor heart attack is there. This will be clear on echo, which will tell us about the heart functioning.
She needs to see both cardiologist, a DM cardiologist, not diploma and endocrinologist. DM cardiologist performs echo and angiographies.
Medicine has only preventive role, but ones blockages sets in they need to be open either with stenting or bypass, other heart functioning will go down. If she needs it after getting investigations done, then it should be done.
All the best.
