What Do These Kidney Function Reports While On BP Medication Indicate?
Question: Hello, I have a concern about my kidney function. 1.5 years ago I began treatment for high blood pressure, triglycerides, and cholesterol.
Am I likely to have developed moderate kidney disease in 1.5 years or is it more likely to be a result of medication.
My initial blood work showed
Albumin 3.8 g/dL (3.4-5.0)
Calcium 9.0 mg/dL (8.4-10.2)
Carbon Dioxide 30.3 mmol/L (21-32)
Chloride 101 mg/dL (98-107)
Creatinine 0.65 mg/dL (0.4-1.20)
GFR Black 128.4 mL/min
GFR Non-Black 111.1 mL/min
Last week it showed:
Glucose 122 Higher Than Normal mg/dL (70-99)
Urea Nitrogen 27 Higher Than Normal mg/dL (7-18)
Creatinine 1.95 Higher Than Normal mg/dL (.70-1.3)
I have been taking the following for BP and Tri:
Fenofibrate, Nanocrystallized (Tricor Eq.) Tablet 145 mg
Lisinopril/Hydrochlorothiazide (Prinzide Eq.) Tablet 20-12.5 mg
I am very concerned in the move from Normal GFR to Moderate Kidney Disease in a year and a half.
I meant to add my current GFR:
GFR Black 43.4 mL/min
GFR Non-Black 37.6 mL/min

Naproxene can cause this reduced kidney function. I will like to know how much and how often you took this drug as well as the total duration. Most interesting, get your kidney function tested 3months later to see where we stand. It is unlikely that this change is real and permanent seen the rapid nature.

Naproxen 500mg twice per day since April 2015. Lisinopril/HCTZ 20/12.5 since March 2016.
I stopped both this week and changed BP meds to NIFEdipine (ADALAT CC) 60mg. Will redo blood test in three weeks. Should I expect an increase in my GFR?

Thank you for your information. I had expected/hoped my dramatic rise was medicinally induced. My expectation in three weeks is to have my GFR back above 90. Otherwise My family practitioner will refer me to a kidney specialist.
