What Does PSA Level Of 4.1 Indicate?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Have a 4.1 PSA for 6 years after prostititus. Went through great stress not related to PSA worries, started smoking again, accellerated PSA to 4.8 for only one test, then went back to 4.1. Planning biopsy soon. 68 years old. Dad had prostate cancer. If I have cancer, is it likely to be agressive?
Probably best for a Urologist to answer this question. Sorry for my mistake.

Brief Answer:
Biopsy may not be required also
Detailed Answer:
Hi
thanks for your query.
I am a medical Oncologist looking after many prostate cancer patients as well. Going through your history, I doubt a probable diagnosis of prostate cancer. PSA has remained stable for 6 years. I know one value was 4.8 but again it is 4.1. So I would not suspect a diagnosis of prostate cancer here. Biopsy may be done but even further followup without biopsy is acceptable.
Now coming to the second part of your query. If at all it is cancer, even then it will turn out to be a very indolent and slow-growing variant which may not require any treatment apart from watchful waiting.
Hope this helps.
