Question: when a person is on heart medications, just added plavix, and the blood pressures went down to 92 44 and heart rate of 59, are these numbers too risky low when he falls asleep at night? Otherwise, the blood pressures would be around 106-116 and 65-70.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms could be related to plavix adverse effects.

Low blood pressure is a rare adverse effect related to plavix.

Anyway, other possible causes of low blood pressure ( chronic anemia, electrolyte imbalance) should be excluded first.

So, I would recommended performing a complete blood count for anemia and blood electrolytes to exclude possible electrolyte imbalance.

These blood pressure values are a little low and can cause possible fainting.

But if you don't have symptoms like dizziness or lightheadedness, it means that you tolerate these blood pressure well and there is nothing to worry.

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask me again whenever you need!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
