Possible infection or thyroid lesion.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. If the swelling is in the front of neck, it is possibly thyroid lesion. Hyperthyroidism can present with excessive warmth or hot feeling and restlessness. A thyroid hormone levels evaluation will confirm the diagnosis.
2. If the swelling is on the side of neck, it is possible lymphadenitis. Acute infection of oral cavity or salivary glands can present with lymph node enlargement. He might have fever, and due to this restlessness.
3. If he has any fever, paracetamol to reduce temperature needs to be taken. Macrolide group of antibiotics like azithromycin can be taken for infection.
4. If no fever and swelling is present on one side, fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of swelling can be done for evaluation of the cause for swelling. Meet your doctor for FNAC and antibiotics prescription.
5. Rest is necessary. It does not appear to be cervical spondylosis.
If you add more details, I can be more helpful.
Hope it helps.
