What Does A Lump On Scalp Of An Infant Indicate?

Question: My new born baby Leo who is 5 days old has a hard lump about the size of a pea in a pointy shape and it does not move i cannot move it , it is mainly made out of bone as what i think.
on his right side there is no such bony lump.
Should i worry is this a tumor or a sign that he is sick or is this just normal
i think lumps that move are lymph nodes his lump is like if his skull is growing a pea sized shaped bone....
please give me advice as we are really worryed

Brief Answer:
could be lipoma or lymph node
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Lumps on scalp usually do not move freely becauseof the tight skin ofscalp.
The swelling you described looks like a lipoma or lymph node.
Thereis nothing alarming. Keep a watch on the size of the swelling. If it increases in the next month or so, it will need further evaluation.like biopsy. But otherwise you can wait. It will slowly go away.
