What Does A Soft Lump On The Buttocks Indicate?
Question: my husband has a quarter sized soft lump on his right butt cheek. He is a small guy 5'10" 135-140 lbs and I noticed the lump a few months ago. I don't think its gotten bigger but it definitely hasn't gotten smaller. i thoroughly checked to make sure that there wasn't one in the ithe other side. since it's soft should we ignore it?
Brief Answer:
As discussed in details below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
Noted the history about the lump on the right butt cheek.
The most probable cause can be:
Lipoma.
Sebaceous cyst.
Since both are painful, very slow growing unless infected or so, I would advise him the following:
Clinical evaluation, preferably by a General Surgeon.
Confirmation by Ultrasound and FNAC if required.
Although it is not growing fast it is not a normal structure of the body and it may be on pressure point.
Hence better to get it removed for a few reasons:
1> your get rid of the disease and
2> you get the histopathological diagnosis- makes you tension-free
