What Does Aching Left Calf Muscle With Swelling Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 27 Sep 2017
Question: My left calf has a dull ache for the last week and hasn't gone away. There is some slight swelling of my leg. It does hurt a bit most of the time, though I can still walk without much discomfort. I do not have shortness of breath or chest pain.

Brief Answer:
Could be Varicose Veins

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HealthcareMagic..
I thank you for posting your query here and I'm definitely going to help you out..

I read your question completely and have understood it well enough..
I being a surgeon, we encounter so many such cases day in and day out.

Please note..

1. The history that you gave is very good. Appreciate you for this.
Considering your age and the symptoms. I strongly feel it's the Varicose Veins of that limb causing such problems.

2. Most of the times, such veins are visible clinically but sometimes if there is only Sapheno venous incompetence, you can't find any veins but such symptoms.

3. Do not worry, let's first confirm it and then plan the treatment..

4. Please get, Venous Duplex or Doppler scan done for that affected limb.

5. Doppler will also tell if there is Deep Vein Thrombosis.

Hope this helps you..
