What Does An Episode Of Partial Loss Of Vision Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 25 Mar 2017
Question: Experienced partial vision lost while shopping for groceries which lasted a few minutes. As I looked at the prices of the item I could only make out part of the price, for example, 3.25 was seen as 25 cents. I covered my left eye and that is what I would see and if I covered my right eye that is also what I would see. I thought I might have a floater but reasoned it would not affect both eyes. I felt just a little off balance and finally told my husband we should go home. I'm ok now and my vision returned to normal as we were checking out. I have a slight headache on the right front side and over the top. I've just finished a small meal and feel slightly queasy. I recently had a coronary angiography with stent on the right frontal artery

Brief Answer:
Needs work up for TIA

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

i read your question and i understand your concern. Transient visual blurring self resolved with a small episode of dizziness ( losing balance ) and history of coronary stenting recently should be followed up and worked up for TIA ( Transient ischemic attacks). Your TIA ABCD2 score appears minimum of 2 and should be evaluated for any further recurrence of TIA. I would advise consult a physician, let them advise some baseline work up like carotid dopplers, examine your fundi and visual acuity and rule out both ophthalmological as well as neurological cause for that. Modifying diet and lifestyle and compliantly using low doses of aspirin should be continued.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
