What Does An X-ray Showing Spot On Pelvic Region Indicate?
Risk of bone spread in you is low at about 2 percent, your doctor is right
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for writing in.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. If you have had prostate cancer in the past and are cured of it right now then chances are little that it can appear as a white shadow on the X ray. However any suspicious white shadow in the pelvis X ray should not be ignored in a patient who has taken treatment for prostate cancer in the past.
2. Research has shown that 97.4% of cases with serum PSA less than 20 ng/ml will not have metastasis. Since your PSA is approaching zero, therefore the risk of having a spread to bones is only 2.6 percent. Hence your doctor is right.
3. Should you require my interpretation of your X ray then please upload an image of the X ray so that I can see the white shadow myself.
4. MRI scan shows bone changes approximately 4 months before it is seen on X ray. We can match the MRI results for confirmation when it is ready.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
