What Does Grey Zone-positive In Hepatitis-C Report Mean?

Question: My Hep C test came back negative with a comment "GRAYZONE"and recommended I be tested on my next dr visit. Should I schedule an appointment or wait until my next appointment?
Brief Answer:
Go for PCR test!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HCM for your query!
Grey zone means the test was not sensitive to tell whether you are positive for HCV or not.Antibody titre was very low hence in lay mans language the test was milfly positive ,However chances are very high that its false positive.
You should repeat the test again. Its better to go for a polmerase chain reaction (PCR) test.As biopsy and usg are normal hence you can wait for next appointment.please mention you have your next appointment after how many weeks?
Thanks!
