What Does High Level Of Absolute Immature Granulocytes Suggest?
Question: I just had a physical that showed both high absolute immature granulocytes (.02 10E3/mcL) and high absolute basophils (.25). I am a 41 year old woman who is in good physical health (aside from allergies, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping). What might this mean?
Brief Answer:
Non specific marker
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Absolutely immature granulocyte and high basophils is a non specific marker. It tells us that there is some kind of inflammation going on in the body. High immature granulocytes are seen in infections and high basophils could be due to your allergies.
Allergies most often lead to secondary infections. If there is no obvious focus of infection like cough, running nose, etc then I would probably treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic for 5 days and then repeat the values after a week.
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
