Brief Answer:
Hypertrophy of taste buds are the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, it seems that your symptoms are due to hypertrophy of the taste buds present on the tongue. They can be hypertrophied due to some trauma, smoking, hot/spicy/sour foods. They cure by themselves in few days time. I would suggest that you should maintain good oral hygiene and avoid smoking, if any. Icing can be done to relieve pain. If pain is severe, you can apply locally oral benzocaine gel for relief. An oral examination by your dentist will help in planning further medical management.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.
