Hello XXXX
Thanks for writing to XXXXXXX
Her lymphocytes is increased but mumps should also be confirmed clinically.
Lymphocytes may be increased in number of viral and other infections.
Mumps is diagnosed by swelling of Parotid (salivary glands). It is due to viral cause and it is generally self limiting. It only requires supportive care and infection will pass within one or two weeks.
Application of warm or cool compression to the swollen glands help in relieving pain.
She should also take Ibuprofen + Paracetamol syrup or tablet depending upon her body weight. It will decrease her fever and pain.
You can give her soft & bland diet that does not require lot of chewing and encourage her to drink plenty of fluids. Avoid giving acidic fruit juices (like orange juice, grape juice),these foods will worsen parotid pain.
Get well soon.
