What Does Missed Period Along With Negative UPT Indicate?
Question: My girl friend missed her period last month, she was due on 28th.
We did urine pregnancy test, one came out to be invalid and another came out to be negative.
Should we go for another pregnancy test or should we wait for her period to come naturally ??
can you suggest some medicine which will help her in getting her periods?

In my opinion, if the menstrual cycles are regular, usually the urine pregnancy test might be positive a week after the missed period.
The urine pregnancy test is to be done with first morning urine sample after a week of the missed period.
If she has done the test prior to the above said time then it is worth repeating the test with first morning urine sample.
Sometimes even the stress about the thought of pregnancy or any other cause might delay the periods.
Cause for missed or delayed periods are:-
1) Pregnancy
2) Any hormonal imbalance due to stress.
3) Thyroid abnormalities.
4) Polycystic ovarian disease.
As you said her period was on 28th, it is almost 2 weeks late and if at all pregnancy was there it might have been positive by this time.
And by this time, if she were pregnant the symptoms of pregnancy might start like nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, increased frequency of urination.
As it is already 2 weeks past the missed period, I suggest you to see a gynaecologist for further management.
As the medicines are given after examining the patient and any necessary investigations. Sorry, I cannot prescribe you the medicine.
So I suggest you to get an ultrasound done after consulting a gynaecologist. The ultrasound might help in diagnosing the cause for delayed periods.
