Question: Hi,
I have consulted doctor and had Ultrasound scan for my brest.
Scan reports says i have multiple fibroadenomas in both right and left breast. Among them only one lump which is of 30x28mm in size has atypical features and needs excision biopsy.
When i showed these reports to gynic, she suggested to remove this lump ASAP.
I'll upload the reports for your verification . Please can you clarify how long will it take to cure if i go for surgery.
Thanks alot in advance.
Brief Answer:
Further management depends on HPE of atypical lump
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.
The ultrasound of your breast reveals multiple fibroadenomas in both your breasts.
Fibroadenomas are benign tumors which are cured by excision or surgical removal.
After surgically removing these benign lesions, sufficient time is required for healing of the surgical incision.
Care of the surgical incision requires keeping the incision site healthy and prevent infection.
The sutures are removed after 7-10 days.
Thereafter, a regular follow up is recommended because there is increased possibility of developing fibroadenoma again.
The surgically removed fibroadenoma is sent for histopathological/ microscopic examination to look confirm the diagnosis of fibroadenoma and to look for any atypical changes in the lesion.
The lump which has been described as atypical on ultrasound needs to surgically removed soon and sent for histopathological examination.
There may be evidence of atypical features or malignancy.
The further plan of action will depend on the results of histopathological (HPE)examination.
