What Does My CBC Blood Test Report Indicate?
Probable mild infection or reactive increase in white blood cell count
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. It is probable that an infection has developed in the post operative period. Total leukocyte count is white blood cell count and is usually 4000 to 10000. If the count was 18500 and is now 22000 then an infection is to be ruled out first which is suspected if there is fever.
2. Sometimes there is also reactive increase in TLC due to the stress of the surgery. This resolves by itself in a few days.
3. Right now regular TLC should be done to know the trend of the count and temperature must be recorded every 4 or 6 hourly to know whether she is having fever.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if she has any doubts.
Regards,
