What Does My MRI Scan Report Indicate?
Question: Hi Doctor- Recently I did a head MRI for Synus and it was discovered that I have Primary Empty Sella. But the doctor suggested no treatment or medicine for it since it is not serious. I do get very severe headache once in two weeks in the middle and top of head. Headache goes off only after whole night sleep. Also I do face erectile problems as well at times. I see that (in web) these are symptoms of empty sella syndrome. So wanted another opinion whether I should go for treatment or just live with these problems. Thanks.
Brief Answer:
Consult a endocrinologist
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Empty sella is usually a radiological finding in asymptomatic patients.
Even with empty sella the hormone producing tissue is present enough to carry your body requirements.
Workup is required when symptoms like hypotension, thyroid disorder is present.
You need to consult a endocrinologist for erectile dysfunction and hormonal workup for empty sella syndrome.
Multiple test like cortisol levels, thyroid profile, testosterone levels may be required.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
