What Does My MRI Scan Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 16 Nov 2017
Question: I recently had an MRI on my neck and am looking for a second opinion and best next steps based on a written report. 6 days of oral methyl predneselone. No significant relief. Pain and weakness in left arm.

What are recommended next steps? Is surgery warranted?

Brief Answer:
I highly recommend surgery!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I have reviewed your symptoms and the attached report. Surgery is your best way out. The compression of the nerve is significant and without surgery, it is highly unlikely that you would overcome it.

I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be. Keep me updated with your final treatment choice.

Thank you for your response. Do you have an opinion on what type of cervical surgery is most appropriate? I'm an elite level rockclimber. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Decomprssion!

Detailed Answer:
HI,

The main goal of the surgery would be to free the compressed nerve by reducing surrounding tissues.

I wish you well.
