What Does My MRI Scan Test Report Indicate?
Posterior Tibial Tendon Duddington causes flat foot
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
Thanks for the query.
Usually Plantar fascitis is associated with spurs of the heel bone. This can cause irritation of the XXXXXXX horse or Tendoachilles such can cause pain and tightness of the calf muscle.
The degenerative cysts are mostly age related setting in of arthritis of the ankle, especially in obese persons.
The most common cause of acquired Flat foot is dysfunction of the Posterior Tibial Tendon or PTT. Your report says Tenosynovitis of the PTT. This indicates that there is inflammation if the PTT tendon, so it may not function adequately in maintaining the arch of the foot, thus causing Flat foot.
Orthotic footwear and boots are useful in such cases, shoes inserts as well can offer some relief.
It is advisable to avoid more than 3 cortisone shots for the risk of rupture of the Tendoachilles which can require surgery to repair.
If this treatment does not cause resolution of symptoms in 2 months, we can think of strengthening the PTT by doing tendon transfer surgery. This will help to maintain the arch and normal walking pattern.
It is important to prevent obesity with regular exercise and balanced diet.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
