Brief Answer:
Gliosis in brain is generally due to sequel of injury to brain parenchyma.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Gliosis in brain is generally due to sequel of injury to brain parenchyma.
Injury may be in the form of ischemia, trauma, surgery etc.
Gliosis is a repair mechanism in brain and generally it doesn't require any treatment itself. However patient may need symptomatic treatment.

T2 hyperintensities in brain are generally due to chronic microangiopathic ischemic changes( due to compromised blood supply).
These are generally due to involvement of small blood vessels.
It is generally due to conditions like hypertension, diabetes mellitus, altered lipid profile etc.
So,your father may need screening for these conditions. He may also need follow up to see progression of lesions.
