What Does My PET Scan Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Jun 2016
Question: Can you please review my PET scan and help me to understand what it means? Also, do you mind reviewing my chest CT. One Provider said I needed to have excision all biopsy and another said nothing. They repeated the chest CT 4 weeks later which showed a new area that developed. They just repeated the CT today. I was prescribed remicade and eventually Humira Anti- TNF meds. I am concerned about infection and other growths they mentioned. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Your findings may suggests benign lymph node in right side of neck.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to HCM,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern,

Your findings may suggest benign lymph node in right side of neck. It is usually not concerning. It may be due to many reasons like infection in ENT region etc. You may need FNAC of lymph node after evaluation.

I don't think you will need excision biopsy, however this need clinical evaluation.

There are also focally increased uptake in both adnexa which is normal.

Cortical hypometabolism may be due to medicine related.
There are no signs of malignancy.

CT chest report is not attached, please upload for further discussion.

Thank you. I have uploaded my ct scans. I am concerned because I have right neck shoulder and arm pain, upper body swelling, hoarse and claudication type symptoms. I am so very tired and short of breath with upper body weakness. I have to hold my breath to breathe better. My right wrist and hand have documented muscle atrophy and weakness and I am right handed. I have right sided facial and neck swelling as well as new onset right vocal cord weakness, right sided hearing loss in addition to new eyelid pyrosis on the left and pupillary constriction on the left side. I have new onset HTN in addition to unexplained tachycardia and I'm on Lisinopril HcTz daily.

Brief Answer:
MRI(cervical spine) findings may suggests degenerative changes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to HCM,

MRI(cervical spine) findings may suggest degenerative changes.Findings are more in right side and this may be the reason for right upper limb problem.
You may consult neurologist. This is generally a manageable condition and you may require physiotherapy, medicines like pregabalin etc.

You are already advised for ENT evaluation. You may need fiberoptic examination for lingular tonsillar hypertrophy.

You may also need pulmonary function test(PFT).Thyroid profile should also be estimated.

You also need follow up CT scan(thorax) to see progression of pulmonary nodules.

Findings are not very serious. At present there are no signs of malignancy.

Hope I have answered your query.
