Thyroid
Detailed Answer:
It is a reasonable treatment approach.
In order to make this decision, multiple factors need to be taken into account such as family history of thyroid problems and a neck swelling ('goiter') to mention two examples.
When I see someone like you in my practice, I typically order the following blood tests in addition to a detailed physical examination:
CBC (Complete Blood Count, also known as Hemogram; includes Hemoglobin, WBC and Platelet counts)
Electrolytes (Sodium and Potassium in particular)
HbA1c (Glycosylated Hemoglobin = your 3 month glucose average)
Liver function tests (SGOT , SGPT, Albumin, Bilirubin, Alkaline Phosphatase)
Kidney function tests (BUN, Creatinine)
Anti Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) antibodies
Anti Thyroglobulin antibodies
25 hydroxy Vitamin D
Fasting Lipid profile after 12 hours of overnight fast.
If the thyroid antibodies are positive, it makes a strong case to offer treatment with levo thyroxine.
It is ok to take other medications with thyroid pills but you must take them an hour after thyroxine
Thyroxine is meant to be taken 1 hour prior to breakfast/ food/ beverage/ other tablets, on an empty stomach with water.
I was taking 4000- increased to 5000 a day
B12 was 303. Scale 211-946 taking 1000 mcg now
Bun creatinine .78 scale .76-1.27
I was not fasting. At time of test. Thyroid is not or was not swollen.

Detailed Answer:
I see.
Well you seem to be on the right track.
As mentioned earlier, the next TSH and Free T4 will aid in determining if your thyroid dose is appropriate.
The auto antibody results will be helpful too in knowing if this is a long term condition.
