Hi suddenly bled a lot on sunday morning... more than 2 pads in 1 hr and then felt a big mass coming out of vagina which was the membrane. Later iimmediately went to hospital, they induced labor to expel the membrane, fetus and placenta. Some placental tissues still remained and tey did a DnC to ensure everything is cleared. However since i had multiple gestations earlier and blood clot n other sacs where still present i lost a lot of blood.my hb came down to 6 and i was given 2 units of blood. I returned home and recovering by resting for a couple of weeks. The doc dint suggest chromosonal analysis and I also dint realise we could have asked for it. Was tat necessary?the docs opinion was that this mainly happened because of multiple gestation and decreased liquor. But she said excat cause cant be determined.

can you give me some tips for faster recovery and how to plan in the future? I am also planning to visit fertility specilist XXXXXXX or Gunasheela for further advise and treatments. For now we are planning to give a 3 month break for body to recover.

Will this miscarriage cause any trouble for concieving in the future? What measures should i take? Pls advise

Brief Answer:
Some concerns

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am not satisfied the way you were treated.

First there was no hurry to terminate pregnancy as there was bleeding with big clot. Membrane dont come out like that in big quantity especially fetus being inside. Ultrasound should have been done to confirm liqor check and then decide on termination ( induction could have waited). I am not happy the way it was terminated.

Second, I don't agree with doctor's statement that this happened due to multiple pregnancies as they don't decrease liquor. Please let me know which doctor you took treatment under and which hospital.

Third, fetus should have been sent for chromosomal analysis to detect possibilities of any chromosomal abnormalities which could have made the liqor to reduce and frequent bleeding. Chromosomal abnormality is a possibility as other fetus didnt grew though there were many to begin with.

You can have iron tablets which will improve your hemoglobin levels slowly.

You can come to XXXXXXX IVI Fertility in next pregnancy so that I can do next treatment. Now I have moved to Koramangala 5th block which will be nearer to you.

Even if i had find a reason, i presume there is a possibility of an undiagnosed chromossomal defect in the baby which has probably lead to reduced liqor and probably miscarriage.

There is a technique called PGS ( Preimplantation genetic screening) to select best chromosomally competent embryo without known chromosomal abnormalities and transfer it.

Let me know if you need anymore details

Yes..it was an unfortunate incident and i did realise fertility specialist could have done a gr8 job in the first place without even causing OHSS let alone other complications. But God willing i have recovered well inspite of so many problems.

I was being treated at AV hospital by Dr XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

I did check with her during my discharge if an autopsy could have helped detect and she simply brushed it off. It is indeed disheartening not knowing the excat cause because 1 day before this happened i had seen my baby move well and babys parameters looked good on scan except for decreased liquor and dialostic blood flow. I still cant believe miscarriage can happen so suddenly.

Good to know you have moved closer to south blore, please let me know how much break i should give before trying for my next pregnancy so that I will talk to my family and consider XXXXXXX fertility. Also since my uterus, tubes and cervix are all healthy I will be able to have smooth pregnancy going fwd rt? My only concern is the quality of my eggs . How can that be improved?

Currently our plan is to hold on for 3 months and recover emotionally and physically before we try again. Pls suggest.

I would like to thank u very much for all your support and answers.

Brief Answer:
Wait for 3 months

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It is good to wait for 3 months. Try to lose some weight in mean time.

Egg quality or quantity cannot be changed with medicines. Only way is to go ahead with whatever you have.

I hope your next pregnancy will be smooth and successful.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Dr. Mahesh Koregol
